Cockatiel for Sale in California โ Hand-Fed Babies from Mo’s Birds

If you’re searching for a cockatiel for sale in California, you’ve come to the right place. Mo’s Birds breeds hand-fed cockatiels in Southern California โ gentle, tame babies raised with daily human interaction from the earliest age possible. Our cockatiels make incredible first birds and lifelong companions.
Why Cockatiels Make the Perfect First Parrot
Cockatiels have earned their reputation as the world’s most popular pet parrot for good reason. They’re affectionate without being demanding, intelligent without being destructive, and vocal without being ear-splitting. A well-socialized cockatiel will whistle for your attention, step up onto your finger willingly, and happily spend hours on your shoulder while you go about your day.
Unlike larger parrots that can require hours of daily enrichment and interaction, cockatiels are adaptable to a variety of households โ from busy families to single-person apartments. They do best with daily handling, but they’re forgiving pets that don’t melt down if you have a long day at work.

Cockatiel Mutations Available at Mo’s Birds
Cockatiels come in a wide variety of color mutations, and Mo’s Birds breeds several of them. Current and upcoming mutations include:
- Pearl Cockatiel โ spotted pearl markings across the back and wings
- Lutino Cockatiel โ striking yellow and white with red eyes
- Pied Cockatiel โ irregular patches of yellow and grey
- Cinnamon Cockatiel โ warm brown tones in place of standard grey
- Normal Grey โ the classic look with bright orange cheek patches

Talking and Whistling Ability
Male cockatiels are among the best whistlers in the bird world. Many learn to mimic tunes, whistle on cue, and even pick up a few words. Females are generally quieter but equally affectionate. With patience and consistent interaction, most hand-fed cockatiels become remarkably musical companions.
Popular songs cockatiels learn include the “Andy Griffith” theme, “If You’re Happy and You Know It,” and dozens of owner-taught tunes. Some individuals develop surprisingly clear speech as well.

Diet and Care
Cockatiels thrive on a diet of high-quality pellets supplemented with fresh vegetables and occasional fruit. Seeds should be offered as treats rather than a staple โ a seed-heavy diet leads to fatty liver disease over time. Fresh water should always be available and changed daily.
A minimum cage size of 20″ x 20″ is recommended, though bigger is always better. Horizontal bars help cockatiels climb and exercise. Provide at least 2โ3 hours of out-of-cage time per day, and offer a variety of toys including shreddable toys, foraging toys, and bells.
